John Mellencamp Splits from Wife of 18 Years

The marriage of rocker John Mellencamp and wife Elaine has come to an end.

A spokesman for the couple of nearly two decades says the two are "calling it a day," adding:

"John and Elaine Mellencamp are proud of their 20 years together and are very happy with their accomplishments both as parents and as a family."

John and Elaine have two sons. Both will remain in Indiana to raise the children, while it's safe to assume John's "Pink Houses" will remain in our heads forever. Thanks a lot, Ford!

EVENT FAB: LeBron James Celebrates 26th Birthday With His "Sponsors"

Superstar NBA baller LeBron James celebrated his birthday last night with dozens of YBF celebs and we have pics for you.  See Dwyane Wade, Gabby Union, Kelly Rowland and more inside...

Bron Bron just kicked off the LeBron "King" James Full Court Birthday Celebration which is a smart marketing scheme with an eleven-stop birthday tour where companies pay up to $500,000 to target their products and brand names to LeBron and his friends.  Featured cities over the next four months are L.A., Chicago, Orlando and Atlanta.  Smart.

LeBron and girlfriend Savannah Brinson arrived at his 26th birthday party at the Coco Deville lounge of Miami's Gansevoort Hotel. During the evening, LeBron tweeted, "Wanna thank all my family, friends and fans for the B-day S/O's today! Love all u guys. Its gonna be another great year! Yes Sir!"

And hot couple Dwyane Wade and Gabby Union arrived arm in arm.

They look extra happy.

They hit the red carpet as Gabby looked super cute in her all silver and gray outfit.

Slimm and Vivica made their arrival.

And Viv rocked her off-hite studded Louboutins.

"Basketball Wife" Jennifer Williams got leathery on the red carpet.  I wonder if she and her hubby are going to make it in 2011.  Ish is looking bleek on this season of the show.

Where were you going Keith?  He busted out the brown velour pants like he was just waiting on a special occasion or something.

Gorgeous chick Kelly Rowland hit the carpet in this black and gold revealing dress.

Hot!

Mike Keyser hit the red carpet with Tank.

So did Tyrese--who always looks damn good in a suit by the way--and Tey Songz.

Damn Drake.  Did you just roll out of bed?  We love you and all boo...but I'm sure people send you free clothes all the time. Was this the best you could do?

And Timbaland was spotted...and his wife Monique Idlett Mosley was in zebra stripes.  Interesting.

And Ne-Yo was in the house.  Looked like a fun night.

Oscar Rankings: Let's Get Technical

As 2010 comes to a close, we are also past the first phase of awards season. The critics' groups have (mostly) finalized their choices and we are now heading into "guild territory." Victors from the Golden Globes and Broadcast Film Critics Association are not going to tell us anything we don't already know about who might earn an Oscar nomination -- unless, of course, they award one of the underdogs like Michael Douglas or the couple from 'Blue Valentine.' Nope, it's the guilds that will begin thinning the herd next week, producers first. 8 of their 10 nominees last year were up for Oscar, minus 'Invictus' and 'Star Trek' (replaced by 'A Serious Man' and 'The Blind Side'). The consensus on the eight this year appear to be 'Black Swan,' 'The Fighter,' 'Inception,' 'The King's Speech,' 'The Social Network,' 'Toy Story 3,' 'True Grit,' and 'Winter's Bone.' The following five will likely battle it out for the final two slots: '127 Hours,' 'Blue Valentine,' 'How To Train Your Dragon,' 'The Kids Are All Right,' 'Rabbit Hole,' and 'The Town'.

You can find those rankings and the rest of Big Eight categories here, but what about the pesky technical categories and all the rest? Critics groups vary when including them in their annual awards. So before we get into the real nitty-gritty of the guild numbers, let us see where these categories rank and which are likely to bump up the nomination totals we see splashed across newspapers and commercials.

Ryan Gosling Calls 'Blue Valentine' A 'Cautionary Tale' For Couples

'People can see the film and can see themselves in it or say, 'How do we keep that from happening?' ' he tells MTV News.

We already know Ryan Gosling thinks his latest film, "Blue Valentine," is a "nice companion piece" to his 2004 romantic drama "The Notebook." And this is despite "Valentine" having much darker, more sexually charged elements and some MPAA ratings drama.

But we wanted to know, given the film's edgier theme, is it detrimental or beneficial for a couple to see together?

"I think it's the best thing for a couple to see, honestly. I'm not just trying to sell the movie," Gosling insisted when MTV News caught up with him. "Well, I am trying to hawk the movie," he laughed, adding that he thinks it's good for couples to see and experience together, since it might prompt discussion or bring to light existing problems in a relationship that the couple could be trying to ignore.

"If there is a problem in their relationship, they're not able to look at it, and they're caught in their own experience of it, there's no dialogue about any of the bigger issues," Gosling explained. "I think ['Blue Valentine' is] a cautionary tale about what can happen to love if you ignore it and you take it for granted."

He went on to say that, because the film highlights the "nitty-gritty" of what it takes to sustain a romantic relationship, it will get couples talking.

"I think that people can see the film and can see themselves in it or say, 'How do we keep that from happening?' "

Check out everything we've got on "Blue Valentine."

Chris Brown, Raz B Apologize For Twitter Feud; Singer Professes Love For Gay Fans

Chris Brown denies he is homophobic. Nevertheless, he says he is sorry for making crass sexual references in his Twitter feud with Raz B.

"Yesterday was an unfortunate lack in judgment sparked by public attacks from Raz B, who was bent on getting attention," Brown said

The anger-plagued singer adds, "Words cannot begin to express how sorry and frustrated I am over what transpired publicly on Twitter."

RAZZING RAZ B: Chris Brown sure did that, homophobia or not.

Brown, who was given a death threat by Ricky Romance (Raz's brother), says "I have learned not to condone acts of violence against anyone."

"Molestation and victims of such acts are not to be taken lightly; and for my comments I apologize - from the bottom of my heart."

After Raz B called him out for beating Rihanna, Chris fired off a crude reference to the alleged molestation of Raz by his former manager.

A source close to Brown stresses that it's questionable whether Raz was actually molested, not that it excuses Chris' comments.

Brown ends his apology with this:

"I love all of my fans, gay and straight. I have friends from all walks of life and am committed, with God's help, to becoming a better person."

For his part, Raz has issued an apology of his own, saying, "I want to publicly apologize for my direct attacks done out of anger. This is about taking the right approach, so not only my story can be heard, but so someone learns something."

Raz B insists the Twitter feud was "not about receiving attention," as Brown insisted, but was about standing up for what he felt was "right."

Raz is not without blame here. He ignited the war, and after Brown reacted to Raz with racist and gay slurs, Raz hurled gay slurs of his own.

To his credit, he acknowledged that, adding, "Standing up for yourself does not mean yelling or victimizing others. I sincerely apologize."

"I was told that 'you can’t hear my message if I’m screaming.'”

As for the death threats Raz B's brother made towards Brown, Raz's rep says Ricky Romance's opinions and statement do not reflect how Raz feels, and that "Raz B cannot control his brother being protective over him."

'Little Fockers' Director On Sequel

'It's funny because the end has kind of a setup for a sequel,' Paul Weitz says.
By Kara Warner, with reporting by Eric Ditzian

As the "Fockers" franchise has been wont to do throughout its 10-year run, the third installment in the highly successful franchise, "Little Fockers," brought in major box-office dollars once again during its opening weekend. This more than proves that it doesn't matter that audiences had to wait six years between "Meet the Fockers" and the latest film: They like to see Robert DeNiro get silly with Ben Stiller. And Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand, for that matter.

Given the success of "Little Fockers," the next question on inquiring minds is, "When are they shooting a sequel?" When we caught up with director Paul Weitz recently during the press tour for "Fockers," we asked him what talk he'd heard about a potential fourth film.

"There's been none with me," Weitz said, indicating that this directorial romp with the "Fockers" will be his one and only. "I would be the first in line to buy a ticket [to the fourth film]," he said.

But even though it sounds like Weitz won't be involved in moving the Fockers forward, he had a pretty good idea of why people think there might be one planned.

"It's funny because the end has kind of a setup for a sequel [minor spoiler alert ahead!], where they say 'We're buying the house two doors down' " Weitz said. "Which was really a last-second thought by [screenwriter] John Hamburg. It wasn't sort of a calculated 'Alright, what's the sequel going to be,' " he explained. "But it does seem like a good setup for a sequel!"

Would you like to see another "Fockers" film? Tell us in the comments.

Check out everything we've got on "Little Fockers."

Tucker Carlson on Michael Vick: Execute Him!

Many football fans, including President Barack Obama, are happy about Michael Vick getting a second chance from the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fox News' Tucker Carlson is not one of those people.

We know it's a 24-hour news world, and Fox anchors are mandated to embrace the opposite view of anything Obama says, but listen to this:

Tucker Carlson on Michael Vick: KILL HIM!

“I’m a Christian, I’ve made mistakes myself, I believe fervently in second chances,” Carlson said. “But Michael Vick killed dogs, and he did in a cruel, heartless way. Personally, I think he should’ve been executed for that."

"He wasn't, but the idea that the President of the United States is getting behind someone who murdered dogs? Kind of beyond the pale."

So ... the Christian thing to do is execute Michael Vick?

What if he can truly be rehabilitated and people can learn from his example? Michael Vick loves animals now. What more do you want?

For its part, the White House reiterated that Obama condemns his crimes (running a dogfighting ring) but believes convicts should get a chance to contribute to society when they are released from prison (Vick served nearly two years).

Tell us, was Michael Vick's sentence fair?

SPOTTED: Chris Brown Brings His New Chick Karrueche Home To VA

Chris Brown is home in VA for the Holidays.  And he brought his new chick Karrueche along with him.  After spending time together on the beaches of Malibu weeks ago, the two hit up the local ice-skating rink last night.  Pre-Twitter war with Raz B.

Read on for the pics....

The bundled up twosome (Karrueche on the left) had some fun on the ice with friends.  And it was all before he started snapping back at Raz B on Twitter.  By the way, here's the last of Breezy's tweets where he explains why he ever responded to Raz and defended himself:
