The romantic drama The Vow led the way for a record-breaking weekend, posting the best numbers ever for a Screen Gems release with an impressive $41 million opening weekend take. The Vow, Safe House, and Journey 2: The Mysterious Island all vastly over-performed, making this non-holiday weekend the first ever to have four films open with over $20 million each. And Journey 2 even managed to outdo its predecessor, bringing in $27 million while 2008's Journey to the Center of the Earth only pulled in $21 million over its first three days in release.
