War Horse, Hugo and The Descendants continue to build momentum as the Satellite Awards are the latest awards group to fall for their charms. Other 2011 theatrical releases picking up best film nominations include Moneyball, Drive, The Artist, Shame, Tinker, Tailor Soldier, Spy, The Help, and Midnight in Paris. Earning recognition for their work behind the camera were directors Tate Taylor (The Help), Alexander Payne (The Descendants), Nicolas Winding-Refn (Drive), Steven Spielberg (War Horse), Martin Scorsese (Hugo), John Michael McDonagh (The Guard), Tomas Alfredson (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy), Woody Allen (Midnight in Paris), and Steve McQueen (Shame).
