20th Century Fox didn't convince many people to buy a ticket for We Bought a Zoo and Summit Entertainment's counter-programming plan to draw in audiences by launching an alien invasion over Christmas didn't really work, however Tom Cruise proved he's still a big draw over this extended holiday weekend. Paramount Pictures' Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol was the big winner this four-day holiday weekend as it pulled in $46 million domestically on its way to what appears to be a new overall record for the franchise. Meanwhile, the Sherlock Holmes sequel, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, is also proving to be a solid performer as is War Horse, the new live-action epic from director Steven Spielberg which just opened on Christmas Day.
