One of 2012's most anticipated films, The Hunger Games has the future of a franchise riding on its back and the high hopes and expectations of fans of Suzanne Collins' bestselling trilogy of books to live up to. The Hunger Games isn't your typical young adult fare - the subject matter is disturbing and the violence is focused on kids in book one - and bringing Collins' brutal, dystopian world to the screen was a challenge for Lionsgate and director Gary Ross who couldn't venture into R rated territory due to the age of the target audience. So, is Ross' big screen adaptation of The Hunger Games both faithful to the books and able to play to moviegoers who haven't read Suzanne Collins' bestseller?
