'Blue Valentine' star Ryan Gosling will star in and direct 'The Idolmaker,' about rock promoter and producer Bob Marcucci, who discovered teen idols Frankie Avalon and Fabian.The actor's directorial debut will be a remake of the 1980 film of the same name, which was directed by Taylor Hackford and starred Ray Sharkey ('Wiseguy') as Marcucci.
Gosling is in Cannes this week to promote his film 'Drive,' with Carey Mulligan. He also has the remake of 'Logan's Run' lined up, and the crime drama 'Gangster Squad.'
