Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban Welcome Baby Girl!
Something you didn't hear about at the Golden Globes was Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban welcoming a baby girl named Faith, just born via surrogate.
Born to a surrogate December 28 at Nashville's Centennial Women's Hospital, Faith Margaret Kidman Urban is Keith and Nicole's biological daughter.
She joins the couple's first daughter, 2-year-old Sunday Rose.
Congratulations to the happy, growing family!
"Our family is truly blessed, and so thankful, to have been given the gift of baby Faith Margaret," Kidman and Urban said. "No words can adequately convey the incredible gratitude we feel for everyone who was so supportive throughout this process."
"In particular, our gestational carrier."
The couple tied the knot in 2006. Kidman is also mom to adopted daughter Isabella, 18, and son Connor, 15, from her previous marriage to Tom Cruise.

'The Rite' Captures Friday Box Office
Thriller makes $5.3 million.

It appears that audiences are still down to get freaked out by a creepy performance from Anthony Hopkins.
The Oscar-winning actor's latest skin-crawling, onscreen turn, "The Rite," topped the Friday box office. The film, which is based on real-life events and stars Hopkins as an unconventional exorcist, debuted with $5.3 million. When MTV News sat down with Sir Hopkins recently, the veteran star admitted he has a gift for freaking out fans.
"I know how to do those parts," he said. "Not because I'm scary, but because I know how to scare people. ... It's a question of being quiet and not overplaying it," he explained. "You let the script and the audiences do the work for you. You don't have to play evil."
Behind "The Rite" is last week's box-office winner, "No Strings Attached. Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman's portrayal of "sex friends" who shrug off the possibility of a relationship in favor of casual lovin,' scored $4.3 million. Friday's earnings kick the film's total haul to just over $30 million.
Jason Statham's latest firepower-heavy flick ,"The Mechanic," came in third place. The tale of an assassin looking to avenge the killing of his mentor with the help of his son (Ben Foster), debuted with $3.6 million.
"The Green Hornet" took the fourth-place spot at the Friday box office. Moviegoers coughed up $2.9 million to catch Seth Rogen as the classic masked superhero duke it out with Los Angeles-area baddies. The figure kicks the film's total estimated tally to $70 million.
"The King's Speech," the dramatization of the UK's King George VI's struggle to overcome his stammer with the help of an eccentric speech therapist, rounded out the top five. The film, which recently picked up 12 Academy Award nominations, scored $2.8 million. The movie's total estimated haul now stands at around $63 million.

Sundance Video: 5 Minutes with 'Hot Coffee' Director Susan Saladoff

We all remember the case of the woman who sued McDonalds after spilling hot coffee on her lap, right? Not only was it the focus of a classic 'Seinfeld' episode, but that one case ignited a fire storm across the country because of just how insane it sounded. Who doesn't know that coffee is hot, and, seriously, how hurt could you really get from spilling some hot coffee in your lap?
Well that answer, along with several others, make up only a fraction of the electrifying new documentary 'Hot Coffee,' which marks the first film from former trial attorney Susan Saladoff. 'Hot Coffee' begins by telling the real story behind that "hot coffee incident" before exposing a few other cases featuring people who were screwed over by the court system because of either Tort reform, caps on damages, mandatory arbitration, or some combination of the three.
We sat down with Saladoff for five minutes to discuss the most important parts of her documentary, as well as why every registered voter in the country needs to see this film before the next election.

Miranda July is one of those terribly aggravating people who is exquisitely talented in a variety of mediums but too awesome not to want to be best friends with, if that makes any sense. Her first film, 'Me and You and Everyone We Know,' won four awards at Cannes and the Special Jury Prize at Sundance in 2005. Since then, she's written an award-winning collection of short stories, No One Belongs Here More Than You, created the online project "learningtoloveyoumore," a storytelling website that remains online as part of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and made an interactive sculpture garden for the 2009 Venice Biennale.
Her new movie 'The Future' began as a performance piece called Things We Don't Understand and Definitely Are Not Going to Talk About, where she'd pull members from the audience onstage to perform. The final result premiered at Sundance earlier this week and will also play at the Berlin Film Festival in February.

Sundance Video: 5 Minutes With 'Like Crazy' Writer/Director Drake Doremus

Arguably the most buzzed-about film from this year's Sundance Film Festival, 'Like Crazy' (read our review) stars Antony Yelchin and Felicity Jones as a couple trying desperately to navigate their way through a long-distance relationship. Paramount picked up 'Like Crazy' less than 24 hours after it premiered at the festival during one of those classic all-night bidding wars. We don't blame them either; you'd be hard pressed to find a person who can't relate to the themes present in the film. 'Like Crazy' does a tremendous job of tapping in to what it feels like to be in love (both the good and the bad), while reminding us of the little moments and how important they are in each of our lives.
We sat down for five minutes with 'Like Crazy' co-writer and director Drake Doremus, who was in competition at Sundance for the second year in a row (last year he brought the film 'Douchebag'). In the video after the jump we talk everything from the personal story that inspired the film to just how crazy it is to sell your little movie to a big studio like Paramount only hours after its premiere. Drake also gives us an idea of when you at home can see 'Like Crazy' later this year.

Jay-Z Teams Up With Studio For 'Annie' Remake Starring Willow Smith
'We're developing a true superstar in Willow,' Jay says in a statement announcing the project.

When Jay-Z sampled "It's a Hard Knock Life" from the classic Broadway show-turned-movie musical "Annie," who would have guessed it was simply a sneak preview of bigger things to come? It's been announced that Jay has teamed up with Overbrook Entertainment, a film production company whose partners include Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith, James Lassiter and Ken Stovitz.
One of the first projects on the Jay-Z/Overbook agenda will, in fact, be remaking "Annie." After rumors hit the Net about the possibility of the update, Variety confirmed Wednesday (January 26) that Sony will bring the reimagining of the musical about a spirited orphan to the big screen.
Will and Jada plan to make a family affair out of this latest endeavor as their daughter, 10-year-old Willow Smith (who scored a massive hit last year with the infectious "Whip My Hair"), will play the coveted lead role.
In a statement, Jay-Z said of the group's latest venture, "The Overbrook Entertainment family and I have a unified vision," adding, "We're developing a true superstar in Willow."
Willow's rising star (the pint-size singer recently tweeted, "Are you excited for my album?! It's coming soon........VERY soon!!") prompted Columbia Pictures President Doug Belgrad to state, "The time is right to bring back 'Annie' to the big screen. We're true believers in Willow's talent and believe she will be perfect in this role."
Of course, this isn't the first time Jay, Lassiter and the Smiths have teamed up, as the power foursome worked as co-producers on the Tony-nominated Broadway show "Fela!" Nor is it the first time Overbrook (which has pulled in a staggering $2.5 billion in revenue) will make a film featuring one of the Smiths' children. In addition to releasing Will Smith's blockbuster movies including "Hitch" and "Hancock," their son Jaden Smith starred in Overbrook's "The Pursuit of Happyness" and, most recently, a remake of "The Karate Kid."

Roc Nation's 18-year-old South Carolina chick, Alexis Jordan, has her second video out. It's for her "Good Girl" single which was produced by Stargate. She's new to the game--we featured her a while back HERE--and her debut album is scheduled for release on February 28th.
She said the following about her image and new album:
"I want to be really positive, no cussing, none of that," she said. "I'm a young artist and I want to be a role model. A lot of songs are upbeat, and some are ballads. There's a little bit of that country vibe in it, and a little bit of that reggae vibe. My album really has everything."

'Hobbit' Filming Postponed After Peter Jackson Hospitalized
Movie's director was admitted to the hospital after suffering a perforated ulcer.

Perhaps director Peter Jackson should consider tinkering with the title of his upcoming "Lord of the Rings" two-part prequel. Instead of just "The Hobbit," might we suggest "The Curse of the Hobbit" or perhaps "The Haunted Hobbit"?
The star-crossed road to filming the movies, for which Jackson is director, executive producer and screenwriter, hit another roadblock this week when the start of filming was pushed back after Jackson was hospitalized. Deadline Hollywood reported that Jackson was admitted to a hospital in Wellington, New Zealand, on Wednesday with acute stomach pains and underwent surgery for a perforated ulcer.
"Sir Peter is currently resting comfortably and his doctors expect him to make a full recovery. Sir Peter's surgery is not expected to impact on his directing commitment to 'The Hobbit' beyond a slight delay to the start of filming," read a statement from the movie's production company.
It's just the latest setback for the films, which were put in limbo for a while when studio MGM froze production while it went into bankruptcy, and then dealt another major blow last summer when director Guillermo del Toro announced he was dropping out after nearly two years of prep work. Then there was a dustup with the New Zealand actors union that almost caused the production to pick up stakes and move elsewhere.
When Jackson is ready to begin again, his cast for the 3-D prequel will be ready to go. Elijah Wood's recent deal to reprise his "Lord of the Rings" role as Frodo was accompanied by news that Andy Serkis has signed on to once again play Gollum, and it's looking like Ian McKellen is poised to reprise the part of Gandalf in what's being called "a major role" in the new films. Cate Blanchett has already signed on to play Galadriel, Christopher Lee is in talks for Saruman, and Ian Holm is in talks for the elder Bilbo Baggins, whose younger version will be played by Martin Freeman. There's no word yet if Orlando Bloom, who portrayed Legolas in "LOTR," will return for "The Hobbit."

Captain America Makes a Pilgrimage to Save Veterans

Captain America spends a lot of time fighting villains like the Red Skull and keeping our country safe as part of The Avengers, but the superhero has also taken time out of his busy schedule to combat another heinous foe: the homeless problem facing U.S. veterans. Don't look for Steve Rogers behind the winged cowl, though. Meet Allen Mullins, a 28-year-old former contractor who is traveling across the U.S. on foot with a pup named Justice ... and a message.
Mullins -- who only carries with him a backpack, sleeping bag, American flag, clothing, press clippings and a Bible -- is making a pilgrimage to every U.S. capital city to bring attention to the difficulties our country's war veterans are facing. He recently told Austin360 that he walked 5,000 miles in 2009, and since January last year, he's visited 27 capital cities. He plans on doing this for the next 10 years.

Willow Smith was shot by Art Streiber for the February 2011 issue of Vanity Fair magazine. And she dished in the mag about her budding music career. Here's some of her photoshoot flicks:
Talking about her music and management company she said, “It is very cool, because Jay[-Z] really welcomes me and makes me feel like the record label is a place where I can have fun and talk about my career. He and his people make me feel like I’m a part of something. And I love Beyonce—she’s awesome!”
Up next for Willow is the video for her next single “21st Century Girl.”
But not everyone seems to be a fan of the Smith kids or the rapid pace their careers are taking.
Author Terry McMillan is in hot water for a discourse she posted on Twitter that questioned the parenting choices of Will and Jada and suggested they are "pimping" their kids, Willow and Jaden.
Here's Terry's initial tweet:
The Smith children already act like child stars. There's an arrogance in their demeanor and behavior. I find it incredibly sad.
It feels like the Smith children are being pimped and exploited. Or, they're already hungry for fame. What about 4th grade?
A lot of A-list movie stars shielded their children from the Hollywood-world until they were old enough to decide. Look at those who didn't.
Look at Lindsay. Phoenix. To name but a few. They miss out on childhood. It's more important than fame.
These kids don't already know what they "love". Total bullshit. They're not prodigies. They think Hollywood is real.
Why don't they do a remake of The Little Rascals and call it a day? Or, come up with an original film with some ethnic pride. Come on.
Okay. I've said enough about the Smith children. I'm not debating about them. It's just my opinion. People can justify anything, though.
In 4th grade my son came home complaining that the kids in his school said I was famous and rich. I told him that was not true.
That some of my books were popular but not everybody liked them. That we could afford a vacation. "Oh" he said, and went back & repeated it.
I wanted him to think of me as his mother. He didn't read any of my novels until he was 15. He only read 26 pages. Was bored.
Have a wonderful Wednesday everybody. I raised my son. I'm not wasting another minute worrying about how Will & Jada are raising their kids.
P.S. I loved the Karate Kid.
I am not getting started on the lack of diversity in film this afternoon. The Smith children was enough discourse for one day.
After she tweeted this, it set off a firestorm. So Terry had to tweet a semi-apology. Here's what she said:
I apologize for using the word pimp and exploit in referring to the Smith children. It was insensitive of me and wrong.
Twitter is not the best forum to express some things. I didn't know folks would take my opinion so personally.
Terry is always controversial and seems to state that Twitter is not the best place to vent her opinions more often than not. Anywho, what do you think about the parenting choices of the Smiths?
